About Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple (四马路观音庙)

The Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple, established in 1884 and located on Waterloo Street in Singapore, is a historic and revered Buddhist temple dedicated to Guan Yin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. To get there, you can use public transportation or drive. Here are the directions for both options:

By MRT (Subway):

  1. Take the Downtown Line (Blue Line) or East-West Line (Green Line):
    1. Get off at the Bugis MRT Station (DT14/ EW12).
    2. Exit the station via Exit C.
  2. Walk to the temple:
    1. Once you exit Bugis MRT Station, walk along Victoria Street.
    2. The temple is at 178 Waterloo Street, a short walk from the station.

By Bus:

  1. Take a bus to the nearest bus stop:
    1. Bus Stop Code 01019 (Bugis Junction): Buses 2, 12, 33, 130, 133, 960, 980.
    2. Bus Stop Code 01013 (Bencoolen Street): Buses 48, 56, 57, 131, 166, 170, 851, 960, 980.
  2. Walk to the temple:
    1. From either bus stop, it’s a short walk to the temple located at 178 Waterloo Street.

By Car/Taxi:

  1. Address for GPS: 178 Waterloo Street, Singapore 187964.
  2. If driving, you can use the nearby car parks, such as the Bugis+ Mall car park or the National Library car park.

Landmarks Nearby:

  1. The temple is close to Bugis Street Market and the National Library.
  2. Look out for the large red and gold traditional Chinese temple structure.
